Adani Power Up 3.2% After Winning Massive 2,500 MW Clean Energy Deal from MSEDCL

Synopsis: Adani Power rises 3.2% after winning 25-year 2,500 MW renewable round-the-clock power deal from MSEDCL. Supplies reliable clean energy to Maharashtra via competitive tender.

Adani Power Limited has secured a major long-term energy contract from the Maharashtra state government. The company received a Letter of Award (LoA) from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). The deal covers the supply of 2,500 MW of renewable round-the-clock (RE RTC) power for 25 years.

Adani Power’s Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 3,15,092 crores, rose Rs. 165.10, up 3.2 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 159.97. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a negative return of 60 percent.

What Is RE RTC Power?

Renewable round-the-clock power means clean energy delivered consistently day and night. Unlike standard solar or wind power, RE RTC does not stop when the sun sets or wind drops. It combines multiple renewable sources to ensure a steady supply. This makes it far more reliable for utilities managing millions of homes.

The Scale of the Deal

MSEDCL floated a competitive tender and declared Adani Power the successful bidder through an e-reverse auction process. The contract covers a massive 2,500 MW capacity. To put that in perspective, that is enough to power millions of households across Maharashtra. The power supply agreement will run from the Scheduled Commencement Date of Supply.

Terms of the Agreement

The contract is entirely domestic in nature. Both the awarding entity and the project fall within India. All terms follow the provisions laid out in MSEDCL’s original tender. Adani Power must meet the conditions stated clearly in the LoA before supply begins.

What This Means Going Forward

This contract strengthens Adani Power’s position in India’s clean energy sector. It also supports Maharashtra’s push to secure stable, long-term power supply. Furthermore, the deal aligns with India’s broader renewable energy goals. Meanwhile, the 25-year duration gives both sides long-term certainty. Therefore, this win could serve as a template for future state-level renewable deals across the country.
