Chemical stock jumps 6% after reporting 158% YoY increase in net profits

This chemical stock engaged in the manufacture and sale of commodity petrochemicals, primarily linear alkyl benzene (LAB), caustic soda, and epichlorohydrin, surged 5.87 percent after reporting strong December quarterly results with a net profit increase of 157.71 percent YoY.

In Wednesday’s trading session, Tamil Nadu Petro Products Limited’s share reached an intraday high of Rs. 82.79 per equity share, rising 5.87 percent from its previous day’s close price of Rs. 78.20. The stock opened at Rs. 82.79 and is currently trading at Rs. 79.77. The market capitalization now stands at approximately Rs. 717.70 crore.

Q3 FY25 Result Walkthrough

Coming into the quarterly results of Tamil Nadu Petro Products Limited, the company’s consolidated revenue from operations increased by 33.08 percent YOY, from Rs. 345.88 crore in Q3 FY24 to Rs. 460.28 crore in Q3 FY25, and grew by 2.36 percent QoQ from Rs. 449.68 crore in Q2 FY25.

Further, the company’s EBITDA has increased by 94.43 percent from Rs. 11.68 crore in Q3 FY24 to Rs. 22.71 crore in Q3 FY25. 

In Q3 FY25, Tamil Nadu Petro Products Limited’s consolidated net profit increased by 157.71 percent YOY, reaching Rs. 11.70 crore compared to Rs. 4.54 crore during the same period last year. As compared to Q2 FY25, the net profit has increased by 147.88 percent, from Rs. 4.72 crore.

The basic earnings per share increased by 160 percent and stood at Rs 1.30 as against Rs 0.50 recorded in the same quarter in the previous year 2024.

Products Offering

The company manufactures a variety of petrochemical products. Its main product, linear alkyl benzene (LAB), generates 78% of revenue and is primarily used in detergents. The Heavy Chemicals Division produces caustic soda, chlorine, and propylene oxide, contributing to TPL’s product diversification and industry reach.

Production Capacity

As of September 2024, Tamil Nadu Petroproducts Limited’s production capacities are 120,000 MTPA for linear alkyl benzene (LAB), 56,100 MTPA for caustic soda, and 15,000 MTPA for propylene oxide, supporting its diverse product range and market demand.
