The shares of this electric vehicle company that primarily manufactures electric vehicles and core components for electric vehicles are in the spotlight after it rose by 6 per cent from today’s low following receiving BIS certification for its indigenous 46100 LFP battery cell.

With a market capitalisation of Rs. 20,198 cr, the shares of Ola Electric Mobility Ltd were trading at Rs. 43.64 per share, increasing 6% in today’s session, from its low of Rs. 41.84, from its previous close of Rs. 42.54 per share.

Ola Electric Mobility has become the first Indian company to receive Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) certification for an indigenously developed 46100 LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) cylindrical battery cell. 

The certification was awarded to Ola Cell Technologies, a wholly owned subsidiary of the company, marking a significant step toward strengthening India’s battery manufacturing ecosystem and reducing dependence on imported cell technologies.

The newly certified 46100 LFP cell expands Ola Electric’s battery portfolio beyond its existing NMC 4680 Bharat Cell platform. The company stated that the cell has successfully cleared multiple safety, reliability, environmental, and transportation-related tests under BIS, IS 16893, and UN 38.3 standards, demonstrating its readiness for commercial deployment in electric mobility and energy storage applications.

According to the company, the LFP 46100 cell offers an energy density of more than 170 Wh/kg, supports a wide operating temperature range, and is being developed to deliver over 4,000 charge-discharge cycles. These characteristics make it suitable for applications where safety, durability, and cost efficiency are critical alongside energy performance.

The milestone reflects Ola Electric’s growing research, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities in advanced battery technologies. The company highlighted that thousands of vehicles powered by its Bharat Cells are already operating on Indian roads, providing valuable real-world validation. With both NMC and LFP chemistries being developed on a common 46-series architecture, Ola aims to accelerate EV adoption, support future energy storage solutions, and contribute to India’s energy independence.
