Gujarat Ambuja Exports Ltd (GAEL) has successfully commenced commercial production at its new Sodium Gluconate manufacturing facility in Hubli, Karnataka, on 19th December 2025 at approximately 9:45 a.m. This plant is India’s first maize starch-based fermentation facility for producing Sodium Gluconate, with an initial installed capacity of 30,000 TPA.
The commencement of commercial operations at this facility marks a significant milestone in GAEL’s strategic expansion into maize fermentation–based products. The company aims to leverage this state-of-the-art facility to introduce additional fermentation-based products in the coming years, thereby strengthening its position in the specialty chemicals sector.
GAEL plans to scale up the capacity of its maize fermentation based products to an aggregate installed capacity of 1,20,000 TPA by 2028, reflecting a 300% expansion from the current capacity. This growth strategy aligns with the company’s focus on innovation, sustainability, and catering to both domestic and international demand for specialty chemicals.
