Synopsis: French probe targets Jyoti CNC’s Huron Graffenstaden SAS over dual-use export violations: EUR 4M seized, DG restricted. stock drops 15.5%
French authorities have launched a formal investigation into Huron Graffenstaden SAS, a key European subsidiary of India’s Jyoti CNC Automation Limited. Jyoti CNC Automation Limited is facing fresh scrutiny. French authorities have opened a judicial investigation into its French subsidiary, Huron Graffenstaden SAS. The probe centres on alleged violations of export control rules involving dual-use machinery equipment that can serve both civilian and military purposes.
Jyoti CNC Automation’s Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 15,925 crores, fell Rs. 691.90, down 15.5 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 819.20. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a negative return of 34 percent.
French officials moved swiftly this week. They temporarily barred the Director General of Huron Graffenstaden SAS from performing any duties. Authorities also seized certain bank accounts of the French subsidiary, totalling approximately EUR 4 million. In addition, they seized two residential properties owned by Jyoti SAS, the company’s French holding entity.
Furthermore, officials interviewed several employees of Huron Graffenstaden SAS. The questioning focused on export documentation for machinery classified as dual-use. A formal judicial investigation is now underway against the company and those employees.
Huron Graffenstaden SAS is not taking the allegations lying down. The company has received an official notice about these actions. It firmly denies the allegations and is seeking legal advice. Huron says it will contest the actions vigorously.
However, there is short-term impact. The seized assets may remain unavailable for now. Moreover, certain employees under investigation cannot carry out their roles during this period. Despite this, the company says day-to-day business at Huron Graffenstaden SAS continues as normal.
The parent company, Jyoti CNC Automation Limited, is drawing a clear line. It says the French probe will not hurt its Indian business. On a standalone basis, the India operations contribute over 85% of the group’s total revenue from operations. Therefore, the company believes the financial impact of the French investigation will remain limited.
Jyoti CNC reported a consolidated Q3 FY26 revenue growth of 28.1%, reaching ₹576 crore. EBITDA margins also improved to 26.8% during the same period. The company’s core India business, remains on a strong growth footing.
What Investors Should Watch
This story is still developing. The formal judicial process in France could take months to resolve. On the other hand, the temporary freeze on Huron’s bank accounts limits operational flexibility in Europe. Investors will be watching for any further escalation from French regulators.
Jyoti CNC says it will seek clarity from authorities and update markets as required. For now, the company’s message is firm India remains strong, and Huron will fight back.
