Larsen and Toubro Bags Rs 10,000 Cr BPCL Order; Shares Flat

Shares of Larsen and Toubro Ltd (L&T) are trading flat on 23rd December after touching a day’s high of Rs 4,095. This is despite the company saying that its Hydrocarbon business has won a major order from state-run Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL).

L&T classifies orders valued between Rs 5,000 crore and Rs 10,000 crore as “major.” The latest BPCL contract falls in this category.

The order involves engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning of an LLDPE–HDPE swing unit at BPCL’s Bina refinery in Madhya Pradesh.

The project includes two production trains of 575 KTPA each, making it India’s largest LLDPE/HDPE swing unit.

L&T Onshore will execute the project on a Lump Sum Turnkey (LSTK) basis.

The unit is part of BPCL’s Bina refinery expansion. This expansion aims to set up a petrochemical complex and increase capacity from 7.8 MTPA to 11 MTPA.

L&T said the order will strengthen its balance sheet. Moreover, it will reinforce its credentials in the downstream hydrocarbon EPC space. Separately, the company recently won “large” orders worth Rs 2,500–5,000 crore from the Madhya Pradesh State Tourism Development Corporation.

At 11:06 AM, shares of Larsen and Toubro were trading 0.17% higher at Rs 4,079.30 on NSE.
