NSE F&O Expiry: Check the Recent Changes in Expiry Dates for Stock and Index F&O

The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has announced a significant change in the expiry schedule for all derivatives contracts. Effective from the market opening on April 4, 2025, the expiry day will be shifted from Thursday to Monday.

Changes on Index and Stock Derivatives

All monthly contacts for the Stocks that are in F&O, will be shifted from the last Thursday of the expiry month to the last Monday of the expiry month. All Weekly contracts for Nifty 50 will be shifted from Thursday of the expiry week to Monday of the expiry week.

All Monthly Contracts for Nifty, Banknifty, Finnifty, Mid cap Nifty, and Nifty next 50 will be shifted from the last Thursday of expiry month to the Last Monday of expiry month.

All the Quarterly and half-yearly contracts of Nifty and Bank Nifty will be shifted from the last Thursday of the expiry month to the Last Monday of the expiry month.

NSE also stated that the revised expiry date of all existing derivatives contracts will be available in the contract file on April 03, 2025 (EOD). And there will be no changes in the lot size of index and stock derivatives.

BSE’s Stock Reaction

Shares of BSE fell by 9.38 percent following the announcement of NSE’s expiry day shift. As BSE derivatives expires on Tuesday and NSE has shifted their expiry to Monday, that could hurt the trading volumes of BSE’s derivatives. Now investors are looking if BSE will again shift their Expiry day, as the battle between the two exchanges intensifies.
