Samvardhana Motherson Arm Gets ECMS Incentives; Shares End Flat

Shares of Samvardhana Motherson International Ltd ended flat on 5th January, even as the company said its subsidiary has secured government incentives under the Centre’s Electronics Components Manufacturing Scheme (ECMS), strengthening the group’s push into domestic manufacturing for the consumer electronics segment.

The company said its subsidiary, Motherson Electronic Components Private Limited (MECPL), has been approved as a beneficiary under the ECMS. This was notified by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology.

The incentives will support the manufacturing of enclosures for the consumer electronics industry. They will be available for six years, from FY26 to FY31.

Under the scheme, MECPL plans a cumulative investment of around Rs 1,900 crore. It aims to create over 5,000 jobs at its Kanchipuram facility in Tamil Nadu.

The company said the approval aligns with the government’s “Make in India” initiative. It also strengthens its focus on scaling operations in high-value consumer electronics segments.

The ECMS incentives are part of the government’s broader effort. This effort aims to build a strong domestic electronics supply chain and reduce import dependence.
