Synopsis:- Tata Group NBFC stock moved after a foreign investor bought 14.33 lakh shares via block deal for ₹50.8 crore at ₹354.5 apiece. Earlier purchases near ₹325 signaled rising institutional interest amid stable operations, 7.7+ million customers and a strong retail-focused franchise.
The shares of the prominent NBFC gained up to 3 percent from the day’s low after a prominent Foregin institution investor, Societe Generale acquired 1,433,651 equity shares in the company via Block Deal.
With a market capitalization of Rs 1,50,650.40 crore, the shares of Tata Capital Ltd were trading at Rs 354.90 per share, decreasing around 1.38 percent as compared to the previous closing price of Rs 359.85 apiece.
Block Deal
According to the exchange, a prominent Foreign institution investor, Societe Generale has purchased 14.33 lakh shares which is equivalent to 0.03 percent stake, in Tata Capital at an average price of Rs 354.5 per share for Rs 50.82 crore from Marshall Wace Investment Strategies through its Tops World Equities Fund and Eureka Fund.
Earlier, a block deal highlighted a shift in institutional ownership, with Societe Generale buying 1.15 million shares at Rs 325.20 on 13 November 2025, while Marshall Wace Investment Strategies – Eureka Fund sold the same quantity.
Financials
The company posted steady topline growth, with revenue rising 8% from Rs 7,185 crore to Rs 7,737 crore in Q2FY26. However, profitability was slightly impacted as net profit declined 1.2% to Rs 1,119 crore, indicating mild margin pressure despite healthy demand and stable operational performance during the quarter.
Over the last one year, Tata Capital Ltd showed stable operating performance. Operating profit (financing profit) increased from ₹1,576 crore in Q2FY25 to ₹1,626 crore in Q2FY26, while operating margin improved from 22% to 21%, indicating largely steady profitability with marginal margin softening despite higher scale.
