Synopsis: Wipro rises 3% after $1B 8-year Olam Group deal, acquires Mindsprint IT arm for $375M cash. Adds 3,200 agri-tech experts, AI tools for farm-to-fork transformation by June 2026.
Wipro has landed one of its biggest deals yet. The Indian IT giant signed a definitive agreement on April 5, 2026, to acquire Mindsprint Pte. Ltd., the IT and digital services arm of global food and agri-business conglomerate Olam Group. The deal is part of a broader eight-year strategic transformation engagement worth over $1 billion.
Wipro’s shares trade on both the NYSE (WIT) and Indian exchanges. The announcement, made on April 6, 2026, is expected to generate significant investor interest given the scale of the contract commitment of $800 million in assured spend.
A Deal Rooted in Agriculture
Olam Group is no small player. The Singapore-headquartered company runs a $50+ billion food and agri-business. It employs nearly 40,000 people worldwide and is majority-owned by Temasek Holdings.
Wipro‘s Limited’s stock, with a market capitalisation of Rs. 2,07,764 crores, rose Rs. 201.18, up 3.2 percent from its previous closing price of Rs. 194.91. Furthermore, the stock over the past year has given a negative return of 18.5 percent.
Who Is Mindsprint?
Founded in 2007 and headquartered in Singapore, Mindsprint specialises in technology and digital transformation services. It operates across enterprise applications, data and analytics, cloud infrastructure, cybersecurity, and business process services.
Mindsprint has over 3,200 employees across India, Singapore, the US, the UK, and the Middle East. Its revenues have grown steadily from $118.9 million in 2023 to $130.5 million in 2024, reaching $135.6 million in 2025.
The company also holds proprietary tools tailored for the agri-sector. These include Farmsprint® for plantation management, Procuresprint for AI-driven procurement, and Tradesprint® for commodity trading and risk management.
What Wipro Pays and What It Gets
Wipro will pay $375 million in cash to acquire 100% of Mindsprint. The transaction is subject to customary closing adjustments. Anti-trust approvals are required in Saudi Arabia and Australia. The deal is expected to close by June 30, 2026 the end of Wipro’s first fiscal quarter of FY27.
Wipro CEO Srini Pallia called it a meaningful step in building “farm-to-fork” capabilities. “By bringing Mindsprint’s deep domain expertise and IP-led solutions, together with Wipro’s consulting-led and AI-powered capabilities, we aim to unlock growth opportunities,” he said.
Strategic Fit on Both Sides
For Olam, the deal aligns with its ongoing reorganisation plan. Olam Co-Founder and Group CEO Sunny Verghese said the move sharpens Olam’s focus on core businesses while maximising shareholder value. He noted that Mindsprint’s agri-sector depth, combined with Wipro’s global scale, creates “powerful synergies for growth.”
Therefore, the acquisition is not simply a transaction it reflects a deliberate bet by both companies on AI-led transformation in food and agriculture. As a result, Mindsprint’s workforce and proprietary platforms now become part of one of India’s most recognised technology services brands.
