Air India Rolls Out Fog-Season Plan for Dec 10–Feb 10 Low-Visibility Period

As the heavy fog season approaches, Air India has rolled out a refreshed set of customer-focused measures to minimise disruptions during the DGCA-mandated low-visibility period from 10th December 2025 to 10th February 2026. With Delhi and other northern hubs prone to dense fog every winter, the airline says it has strengthened its preparedness based on lessons from previous seasons.

To keep operations stable, Air India has enhanced crew readiness. They ensure enough cockpit crew trained in Low Visibility Operations, including CAT III B capability, are rostered and on standby throughout the window. The airline will also position CAT III B-certified aircraft at high-risk stations. This ensures flights can operate even during sharp drops in visibility.

On the ground, station teams have been asked to step up passenger support. Airports will deploy additional staff and prepare care packages at both origin and diversion airports. They will also rebook travellers proactively when delays occur. Moreover, regular announcements and close monitoring of congestion and delays will be part of the daily routine.

Air India has also fine-tuned its schedules, especially on long-haul and metro-to-metro routes with onward connections. This is to minimise cascading delays. Its Integrated Operations Control Centre and airport control teams will track real-time weather updates. They will assess risks and adjust schedules in advance during severe fog alerts.

For passengers, the airline has strengthened its Contact Centre with dedicated fog-season teams. Travellers will receive timely updates via SMS, WhatsApp and email, along with information on the website and social media platforms.

Air India has also reactivated its ‘Fog Care’ initiative. Flights likely to be delayed by fog will be flagged early. Additionally, affected passengers can opt for free rescheduling or a full refund.

Passengers can check real-time flight status on Air India’s website. They can also contact the airline online or via its contact centre for assistance.
