Synopsis: Renewable energy stock gained attention after Suzlon Energy unveiled an ambitious long-term growth roadmap aimed at transforming itself from a wind turbine manufacturer into a fully integrated renewable energy solutions company. Under its “Suzlon 2.0” strategy, the company plans to scale annual renewable energy sales to 10 GW, expand its orderbook to 15 GW, and increase its renewable energy assets under management (AUM) to 70 GW by FY31.
The announcement marks one of the most significant strategic shifts in Suzlon’s history. For decades, the company has been primarily recognized as a wind energy player. However, management now intends to evolve into a wind-first full-stack renewable energy company covering Wind, Solar, Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), Renewable Energy Development, EPC Projects, and Asset Management Services under a unified business model.
Suzlon Energy Limited has a total market capitalization of approx Rs. 74,200.77 crore, according to NSE data. Suzlon Energy shares were trading at Rs. 54.13 apiece on the National Stock Exchange, down by 0.79 percent; the stock has declined around 5.29 percent over the last five sessions, while it has gone down about 1.58 percent in the 30 days. Over a six month period, the stock has given a positive return of 2.85 percent, whereas on a year on year basis it has declined nearly 20.63 percent, reflecting negative overall performance. The stock’s 52 week high was Rs. 72.40 and 52 week low was Rs. 38.19.
The strategy is built around the belief that India and the world are entering a new phase of electrification, driven by rising demand from manufacturing, electric vehicles, data centers, AI infrastructure, and industrial decarbonization. To capitalize on this opportunity, Suzlon aims to quadruple its annual renewable energy sales to 10 GW by FY31, while expanding its orderbook to 15 GW and increasing its Assets Under Management (AUM) to 70 GW.
A key growth driver will be RE DevCo, which is expected to contribute around 60 percent of future volumes by helping customers accelerate renewable energy project development through land acquisition, approvals, grid connectivity, and execution. The company is also entering the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) segment and plans to establish a manufacturing facility by 2027 to strengthen renewable energy reliability.
Additionally, Suzlon is targeting a 40 percent share of India’s wind energy market and 3 GW of export order intake by FY31. However, achieving these ambitions will require strong execution, technological innovation, and efficient capital allocation amid increasing competition and regulatory challenges. Despite these risks, India’s renewable energy expansion and the country’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity provide a significant long-term growth opportunity for the company.
Company Overview
Suzlon Energy Limited is one of India’s leading renewable energy companies with over 21.5 GW of installed wind energy capacity across 17 countries, including approximately 15.5 GW in India. The company operates across renewable energy technology, project execution, asset management, and development services. Suzlon reported revenues exceeding USD 1.75 billion in FY26 and continues to expand its renewable energy ecosystem through wind, solar, storage, and integrated energy solutions.
Overall, the Suzlon 2.0 roadmap represents a bold transformation strategy aimed at positioning the company as one of the world’s most integrated renewable energy platforms. If executed successfully, the plan could significantly expand revenue streams, improve earnings visibility, and strengthen Suzlon’s role in India’s clean energy transition over the coming decade.
