Swiggy Adds Multilingual Voice Ordering with Sarvam

Ordering on Swiggy may soon be as easy as speaking. On 25th March, the food delivery giant announced a partnership with Bengaluru-based AI startup Sarvam to enable multilingual, voice-led commerce for its food delivery, quick commerce, and dining services.

However, this won’t be a built-in feature on the Swiggy app. Users will place orders through Sarvam’s AI platform, using voice commands in their preferred language.

The AI assistant will handle the full journey—from discovering options to placing orders and completing checkout. This will cover Swiggy’s core services, including food delivery, Instamart, and Dineout.

Sarvam’s models support 11 Indian languages, including Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Bengali and Marathi, aiming to make digital ordering more accessible to a wider user base.

Payments will be enabled via Razorpay using UPI-based infrastructure designed for AI-led transactions, ensuring a seamless experience.

The company has not disclosed any timeline or financial details of the partnership.

The move also reflects a broader push by tech firms to tap non-English-speaking users, a large and still underserved segment that is becoming increasingly important for the next phase of digital growth in India.
