VA Tech Wabag Shares Surged 3% on Securing a Large Order 

Shares of VA Tech Wabag Ltd surged 3% on 20 March after the company received a “large” order for their consortium from the United Water Supply Company of Georgia LLC.

International orders ranging from $30 million to $75 million are considered “large” by the corporation.

The order is for the construction of a 19 million litres per day (MLD) wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Georgia. The project, supported by the European Investment Bank, calls for the construction of a cutting-edge wastewater and sludge treatment facility in Kutaisi, Georgia’s third-largest city.

According to VA Tech Wabag’s exchange filing, the 19 MLD WWTP can be enlarged to a maximum capacity of 56 MLD.

The project’s Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) scope comprises the demolition of the current plant, the construction of the new plant, and the installation of an effluent pipeline to the river. As the consortium’s leader, the company will design, engineer, supply, install, and commission the treatment systems, as well as provide operations and maintenance (O&M) for a 12-month term.

With this order, VA Tech Wabag expands into the Commonwealth of Independent Nations (CIS) region and the Georgian market.

At 1:42 pm, the shares of VA Tech Wabag were trading 3.66% higher at Rs 1,244.80 on NSE.
