Modi to Launch Rs 3,300 Cr Kaynes Semicon Unit on 31st March

As India accelerates its semiconductor ambitions, Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate a major chip facility in Gujarat on 31st March.

The Prime Minister will launch Kaynes Semicon’s OSAT (chip packaging and testing) facility in Sanand. This launch is aimed at strengthening India’s semiconductor ecosystem.

The project, approved on 23rd September 2024 under the India Semiconductor Mission, involves an investment of Rs 3,300 crore.

The unit will handle testing and packaging of semiconductor chips before they are supplied to the market.

The facility is expected to produce around 60 lakh chips per day.

The launch follows another semiconductor plant by Micron Technology, marking rapid progress in India’s chip manufacturing push.

Sanand is quickly transforming from an auto hub into a semiconductor cluster, with projects from Kaynes, Micron, and CG Semi.

PM Modi highlighted that India aims to build a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem. In addition, upcoming initiatives such as Semiconductor Mission 2.0 could further boost growth.
