Shares of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited dropped sharply on Monday, 18 May, touching a day low of Rs 290.20 on BSE after the company posted its March quarter earnings on Friday.
Results were out on Friday. That gave investors the weekend to digest the numbers, and Monday morning, they sold. For Q4 FY26, Power Grid reported standalone revenue of Rs 9,971.09 crore, down roughly 9% compared to the same quarter last year.
Net profit for the quarter came in at Rs 4,552.80 crore, up around 10% year-on-year. Profit grew, but despite that, investors focused on the decline in revenue, which weighed on the stock through the session.
The full picture for FY26 as a whole looked steadier. Annual revenue stood at Rs 40,904.20 crore, with full-year net profit at Rs 15,921 crore.
On the dividend front, Power Grid’s board approved a final dividend of Rs 1.25 per share, taking the total payout for the full year to Rs 9 per share.
The Government of India, which holds a 51.34% stake in the Maharatna public sector enterprise, will be the largest beneficiary of that payout.
At 11:33 am on BSE, shares of the New Delhi-based transmission utility were trading at Rs 292.45, down 4.38% from Friday’s close of Rs 305.85. The stock’s 52-week range sits between Rs 250.05 and Rs 324.80.
