BHEL Wins Rs 13,500 Cr NTPC Project; Stock Slips 1.5%

Shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) fell 1.5% after touching a day’s high of Rs 254.85 on 30th March, despite the company announcing it had secured a Rs 13,500 crore order from NTPC Ltd for the main plant package of the 3×800 MW Telangana Stage-II supercritical thermal power project, according to an exchange filing on Monday, 30th March.

The Notification of Award (NOA) is for a project located in Peddapalli district, Telangana.

The work includes design, engineering, manufacturing, supply, erection, testing, and commissioning of the main plant, including boiler, turbine, and generator (BTG) components, as well as civil works.

Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd (BHEL) said the contract was awarded through an international competitive bidding process.

The company had won the project in October 2024 and began initial engineering work in November 2024.

The project is expected to be completed within 62 months from the date of award. Although both BHEL and NTPC Ltd are PSUs, the company clarified that this is not a related-party transaction.

Earlier, BHEL also secured an order worth Rs 1,200–1,500 crore from Hindalco Industries for a project in Odisha.

At 2:07 PM, shares of BHEL were trading 1.41% lower at Rs 251.25 on the NSE.
